HISTORY OF COBRA BOATS

The year was 1990, a time of innovation where Peter Casini was creating boat designs that would forever change the landscape of the boating industry. From the start it was the catamaran that caught his attention and he knew this was the future of boating.

Casini constructed these "hulls of the future" using Kevlar and E-Glass with balsa coring and high density foams for light weight and strength. Out of these designs came Casini's first race boat, aptly named the 30' Cobra Terminator and terminate it did.

By 1992 the Terminator would win the first of Cobra's numerous world, national and regional offshore championships.Next came the 357 Super Viper which would also eat up the competition and bring home more championships for the Cobra crew. Cobra was well on its way to dominance.

Not satisfied with Offshore Racing World Championships, Casini pushed for more. He took the hull of the Terminator and created a sport fishing boat. The 30' Cobra Predator, as it is named, hit the market in 1995 and never looked back. It hits speeds of over 90MPH is fuel efficient and incredibly manuverable.

By bringing together the polar opposite worlds of racing and fishing, anglers are now able to reach their favorite spots quicker then ever before. Cobra includes all the luxuries available providing the angler with as much pleasure as passion.

In 1998, came the 357 Sea Viper designed with the same hull as the Super Viper. The Sea Viper's larger size gives way to 12 person capacity, more fishing space and oh yea, cruising speeds of 75MPH and a top end roar reaching 100MPH. It is simply put, the fastest fishing boat in the world!

Late that year, The Sea Viper did what we have come to expect out of a Cobra. It broke the traveling time record from the Bahamian Island of Bimini to Miami zipping through the 55 mile distance in an astonishing 48 minutes. According to John Clemans of Motor Boat & Sailing, who was aboard for the mission..."far more astonishing than the time itself was that we really weren't pushing it"

Never allowing the competition to get close, Casini introduced two new boats in 1999 and 2000. First was the 3100 Predator, whose new hull and larger size only adds to the legacy of the 30' Predator. The other, the Cobra Sidewinder, is a 21' boat designed, built and manufactured for the Bass fishing Junkie. So what could possibly be next for Cobra? How about the 3700 Terminator 2, a 36'6" beast with unlimited horsepower, fuel tanks totaling over 450+ gallons and seating for at least 14 who dare to take the test.

Last but not least is Casini's newest design for 2003. His newly patented 4800 Cobra Coastal Cruiser is a combination of yachting luxury and high performance that we have come to expect from the Cobra's.
